Ride, bright Phaethon.
Seize your father’s chariot
and take flight. The sun
is yours, and the morning
awaits. Bring us the
daybreak you promised.
Your chariot is embodied
here with a wooden
tower, and time is a deck
of cards.
When you draw a card of
the same suit as the
previous card, withdraw as
many blocks from the
tower as you have drawn
consecutive cards of that
suit. Place them on top of
the tower.
Set off, reins in hand.
Shuffle the deck and begin
drawing cards. Place them
before you, face up. This
is the passage of time;
night falls when you have
no cards left to draw.
Take care not to topple
the tower; Should it fall
so shall you, and scorch
the earth in your demise.
Jupiter will not allow the
world to end this day,
and his lightning will
strike true if you fail.
